4D v20 is around the corner! In a few weeks, you will be able to get your hands on this wonderful new 4D LTS release. We thought it is the perfect moment to share with you what you can expect in terms of OS support for this new release.
In the table below, you will find what you can expect from the current and upcoming 4D versions regarding their OS support:
You will note that 4D v20 LTS won’t run on macOS 10 (Catalina). 4D continues its certification policy by supporting the 3 latest major releases of macOS.
Pay attention to the fact that the last security update for macOS Catalina was delivered in July 2022, that is to say 1 year without security fixes at the time 4D v20 LTS is shipped. Upgrading to Big Sur is now a matter of security!
If you are curious about which mac computers can run macOS 11 (Big Sur), please read this apple support page. Indeed macOS 11 Big Sur can run on 10 years old Apple hardware: Late 2013 Mac Pro, Late 2014 Mac mini, 2014 iMacs, 2013 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.
One last word about Microsoft Server 2012 R2: as Microsoft ends the “Extended Support” for this OS in October 2023, 4D v20 LTS will no longer be certified for this system, we recommend to update to a newer Windows Server version.
