4D automatically refreshes development licenses when they reach their expiration date. However, OEM build licenses (4D Server OEM and OEM XML keys) still need human intervention to be updated. This was causing issues on automated build chains and, in general, a loss of time.
4D 20 R9 extends the automatic refresh of licenses to OEM build licenses. This blog post will describe the different scenarios in which it will happen.
To benefit from an automatic refresh of OEM build licenses, you need to be signed in on the Welcome Wizard:
The Welcome Wizard and the highlighted Sign in button
As long as you are signed in, the OEM build licenses of your current version of 4D will be refreshed automatically when they expire.
If you upgrade your version of 4D, your development licenses are automatically refreshed the first time you open a project with the new version. OEM build licenses will also be refreshed simultaneously, to upgrade your development licenses and build licenses to the latest version.
In any case, if you want to force a refresh of your OEM build licenses, the Refresh button of the License Manager dialog will refresh both your development license and your OEM build licenses.
We hope this feature will help you save time. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to post them in the 4D forum.
