Webcam support in Web Areas

With COVID-19, the remote office has become a new standard, and video conferencing is becoming commonplace for professionals. As a result, more and more professionals have started weaving video conferencing features into their applications. To allow you to display video conferencing from different sources like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and others, we now support audio and video streams in web areas!

HDI_Webcam support in Web Area

If you want to use your webcam in a web area, you first need to create a web area with the Use embedded Web rendering engine parameter checked:

The support of video streams in web areas is automatic. It depends on your system parameters:

  • On Windows: Settings > Privacy > Camera

  • On macOS:  Apple menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab

To try this feature, just download the HDI above. You will test your webcam in a video element of the HTML or by joining a Zoom meeting. Let us know what you think about this new feature on the 4D Forum!
