Quick Report Editor fully rewritten

With 4D v15 R2 is available the first preview version of the 4D Developer Edition 64-bit Mac & Windows. This preview includes dialogs that have been fully rewritten, first to migrate to 64-bit but also to provide you with modern end-user dialogs with an improved user experience.

The Quick Report Editor is one of them. It has been completely rewritten in full 4D code, based on a listbox. This has been an occasion for us to improve the listbox as we needed it ourselves but also to make you benefit from them.

The new dialog can be accessed either through the Tools>Quick Report menu or using QR REPORT command as in other 4D versions.

Quick report v15 R2

The feature set is not complete yet (see “Limitations” section), this is why this is still presented as a “preview”.

The purpose is to give you the opportunity to provide us with early feedback, while we are still working on the feature. What we are really interested in is your feedback from the functional, ergonomic & user interface point of view, to make sure the new dialog will answer your needs as much as possible.

Limitations

Only reports of type lists are handled for now, no cross-table reports available.
Reports embedded in forms (previously a plug-in area).
Templates & borders dialogs are not available.
